Providing The Opportunity To Play.
At the FFTW Foundation, we look to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for children all around the world to play the game of football. To us, a safe environment includes not only having the right equipment but also access to safe and playable soccer fields. With our pitch renovations in local communities abroad, we look to help create a place where children can express themselves and develop their skills without being hampered by poor or dangerous conditions.
Our pitch renovations include the following procedures:
- Relay and flatten the ground of the field
- Remove all stones and dangerous items off the field
- Input proper goals + mesh nets
- Outline the field of play
To date, the FFTW Foundation has completed pitch renovations in the following countries:
Uganda (Mpambizo Pitch) – April 2014
Location: Kanungu, Uganda
Partners: Volunteer Uganda, K-Talent
Impact: 320 Children Reached
In late April of 2014, the FFTW Foundation was incredibly proud to announce that it renovated its first football pitch in Kanungu, Uganda by the name of Mpambizo Pitch! It was a massive undertaking and is to date one of the biggest milestones for the FFTW Foundation. Mpambizo Pitch itself is located in the rural area of Kanungu and is used by about 10 different schools which includes both primary and secondary schools. The pitch is used by over 800 school children and the local community for their team soccer matches, community matches and by local tournaments hosted in the area.
The main construction included the removal of rocks and dangerous items, the flattening of the field and earth and the installation of metal goal posts along with new mesh netting. We would like to send a big thank you to the K-Talent and the Rugeyo District of Kanungu who were instrumental in assisting us complete the renovation of Mpambizo Football Pitch.
